Scholarship for Women Who Are Mothers myUsearch to award $1000 scholarship to a mother going back to school
With the economic downturn and Obama's push to make college affordable, more and more mothers are going back to school to earn a college degree. However, covering the rising cost of college while supporting a family is not an easy task. In an effort to help mothers overcome this challenge, myUsearch.com, an unbiased online service that helps students find a college, has recently announced a new scholarship for women who are moms.
"Not only is the average salary of a college graduate overwhelmingly higher than the salary of a high school graduate, but earning a college degree is also a way for mothers to expand their horizons, improve their self esteem and offer hope to their children that they too can earn a college degree," says Elizabeth Kraus, co-founder of myUsearch.com. "Over a lifetime, college graduates earn on average nearly double the salary of high school graduates and children of parents who went to college are much more likely to attend college themselves. Encouraging mothers to further their own education can have a huge trickle effect on our society."
myUsearch.com will offer a $1000 scholarship to one woman who is a mom who can best answer with an essay less than 750 words or a video no longer than 5 minutes: "What is your biggest challenge as a mother trying to get a degree? What can colleges and universities do to help you overcome this challenge and encourage other mothers to further their education?"
